| VOLUNTEER
AT THE BLC:
The
Boston Living Center offers a variety of opportunities to
work either directly with the HIV/AIDS community, or in
support of it. Whether you want to volunteer for a few hours
a week or a few times a month; your commitment will be meaningful
and much appreciated! Our volunteers include students, corporate
groups, church groups, alumni clubs and more. We have immediate
and ongoing need for volunteers; your group can also plan
in advance for an activity with us. Whether you would like
to begin immediately or work with us in the future, contact
us now so we can work with you to find the volunteer role
that will suit you and/or your group best!
Important Information Regarding Volunteering with the
BLC:
- First
and foremost, all of your efforts will directly impact
the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS—we thank
you in advance for considering a commitment to working
with us!
-
Volunteers must be 18 years of age and over.
Potential volunteers begin with an interview with the
Volunteer Coordinator. The interview includes completing
necessary paperwork.
- A
CORI (Criminal
Offense Record Information) check is conducted on all
volunteer candidates. Please Note: If you are interested
in volunteering with us and your background includes interface
with the criminal justice system, please inform the Volunteer
Coordinator that you would like to speak with our Human
Resources person regarding your history. We recognize
that each individual has their own life journey, and we
may well be able to work with you so that you can volunteer
with us.
-
The BLC has positions available for volunteers needing
to fulfill court-mandated Community Service requirements.
-
BLC Members are asked to wait 3 weeks after joining the
Center before volunteering. Once this initial period is
past, Members are very much encouraged to volunteer—this
is YOUR Center, and your involvement is critically important!
